GunZ Quest Boss Guide — Patterns & Strategy
Boss fight guide for GunZ Quest Mode — Giant Slime, Dark Priest, elite knights, tells, phases, and party assignments.
GunZ Quest Boss Guide
Quest boss fights are the payoff of every Dungeon and Mansion run. Unlike PvP duels where human mind-games dominate, PvE bosses telegraph attacks — learn the tells once and you farm loot forever. This guide covers Giant Slime, Dark Priest, elite knights, and composite finale phases on Hard and Nightmare.
General Boss Rules
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Aggro | Frontliner holds melee mobs; boss focus fire on casters first |
| Revives | Finish adds before reviving in boss arenas |
| Consumables | Medkit before phase shifts; Repair Kit during long fights |
| Movement | Butterfly dodges ground AOEs; wall climbing avoids balcony hazards |
Read the Quest walkthrough for room routing that precedes each boss.
Giant Slime
The Giant Slime is Dungeon’s iconic finale and appears in Mansion on some difficulties. It is a large HP sponge with simple but punishing ground slime.
Phase 1 — Ground Puddles
The Slime hops and leaves green puddles that deal damage over time. Assign one player to kite puddles clockwise while others stand on dry tiles. Never stack in the center — puddle overlap wipes parties on Hard.
Phase 2 — Split (Hard+)
Below fifty percent HP, the Slime may split into smaller slimes on Nightmare. AoE burst the small slimes before they re-merge. Ranged DPS with SMG excels here.
Party Assignments
- Kiter — tracks puddle path, calls safe zones
- Burst DPS — Katana slash cancels during Slime wind-down frames
- Support — holds medkits for split phase
Dark Priest
Dark Priest appears as a miniboss in Room 4 of Dungeon and Room 5 Chapel in Mansion. On Hard+, it is a primary wipe source for new parties.
Casts and Tells
The Priest channels delayed red circles on the ground. Wind-up animation lasts two seconds — Butterfly sideways out of the circle, not backward into allies. Secondary cast: dark bolt single-target; interrupt with focus fire or Slash Shot stagger if timed.
Add Management
Skeleton adds spawn during channel. Kill adds first on Normal; on Hard, split — two players on adds, two on Priest HP.
Elite Knight
Elite knights gate Mansion ballroom waves. They charge in straight lines and block progress until defeated.
Charge Tell
Knight raises sword vertically — sidestep at the last frame or jump-dash over the charge line. Frontliner tanks the charge with high HP and Repair Kit ready.
Arena Positioning
Use chandelier pillars as line-of-sight. Ranged players circle the knight; never stand in the doorway where knockback pushes you into the next wave trigger.
Composite Finale Phases
Some Nightmare scripts chain Dark Priest adds during Giant Slime — treat as two priority targets. Burn Priest first if it heals the Slime; burn Slime first if puddles fill the arena.
Loot and Farming
Boss kills grant the best Quest item drop rates. Repeat the same boss route on Hard for armor pieces. Speedrun groups use K-Style skips to reach bosses in under eight minutes.
Preparation Checklist
- Full medkit stack per player
- At least two Repair Kits in party
- Ammo resupply before boss door
- Review controls for revive key
- Watch Quest beginner video callouts if learning
Community Tips and Remaster Notes
Veteran Quest runners on the 2026 Steam client report that ping markers and revive callouts reduce accidental wipes in public lobbies. Hosts who announce difficulty and expected route — Dungeon versus Mansion — see fewer mid-run quits. If you are teaching newcomers, assign one player to loot duty so consumables from our Quest items guide stay stocked before each boss gate.
Movement skill still separates average parties from speedrun groups. Even in PvE, learning Butterfly and wall climbing opens skip routes documented in the Quest walkthrough. PvP players cross-train in Quest because slash timing and ammo discipline transfer directly to K-Style duels. Track balance patches on updates — drop rate tweaks and boss HP adjustments land there first.
Before you queue Hard or Nightmare, run a Normal clear with the same party to confirm roles: frontliner with Katana, ranged with rifle or SMG, support carrying Medkit stacks and Repair Kit, mobility scouting shortcuts. This five-minute briefing prevents the most common pug failure — three DPS loadouts and zero revives.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Which Quest boss is hardest for beginners?
Dark Priest — delayed AoE circles punish players who panic dash into teammates.
